Creating a “View” Ensuite
Location: Brentwood Bay, BC
Scope of Work: Design and manage a renovation of a master ensuite
Develop the drawings package to include permit drawings, floor plan, electrical plan and elevations
Source and specify all finishing materials
Create a solution for a windowless room
Collaborate with clients preferred builder and his team of trades; manage the integrity of the design
Challenges: The interior was out dated and was not compatible with aging in place. Being a townhouse, the ensuite was located on an inside wall, therefore did not have a window
Solution: A barrier free, walk-in shower was designed with ADA compliant fixtures and grab bars installed. Vanity heights were raised to prevent excessive bending when in use and occupancy sensors were installed for pathway lighting.
What do you do when you don’t have a room with a view? You create one! The client saw an image of a west coast scene she felt drawn to and we created it into a waterproof vinyl mural and applied to the wall surrounding her tub.
